After receiving his guideƍs license in 1907, Rudolph Aemmer left Switzerland for Canada in 1909. He enjoyed a long career, retiring in 1949 at the age of 65. Together with Edward Feuz jr., he led the first party to the summit of Mount Sir Sanford.

Aemmer was highly respected. Following his dramatic rescue of Mrs. Stone on Eon MountainEdward Feuz jr., Rudolph Aemmer was instrumental in the construction fo the Abbot Pass hut.
