Named for: Presumably, Sentry Mountain keeps watch over the traffic through the Crowsnest Pass which lies just north of it.

Sentry Mountain is the northernmost peak of the Flathead Range. It was formerly named Sentinel Mountain but was renamed in 1915 to avoid confusion with other another peak named Sentinel which lies at the headwaters of Willow Creek west of Nanton. Presumably, Sentry Mountain keeps watch over the traffic through the Crowsnest Pass which lies just to the north of it. Note that Sentry Peak is part of a trio of peaks known as The Goodsirs.
