Edward Feuz sr.

(1859-1944) A professional guide in his native Switzerland since 1881, Edward Feuz sr., together with Christian Hasler sr , was among the first of the Swiss Guides to be brought to Canada by the Canadian Pacific Railway. Arriving in 1899 the two were stationed at Glacier House in the Selkirks. Ernest did not settle in Canada but travelled to Canada each spring until 1911, spending most of his Canadian climbing career in the Selkirks. He led some important climbs in the Rockies however including the first ascents of Mount Douglas, Mount St. Bride, and Goodsir Towers (North Tower). His three sons, Ernest Feuz, Edward Feuz jr, and Walter">Walter Feuz all became guides in the Rockies and remained year round. [Additional Information: Kauffman, Andrew J., William L. Putnam.
