Named for: Michener, Right Hon. Daniel Roland (Roland Michener was the Governor General of Canada from 1967 until 1974. He was born in Lacombe and raised in Red Deer.)

On Canada Day in 1982, Governor General Michener, together with guide Lloyd Gallagher and guide/photographer Bruno Engler, climbed the mountain named in his honour.
