Named for: Irvine, Andrew Comyn (Together with George Mallory, Andrew Irvine was last seen above 28 000 feet on Mount Everest and "going strong."

Andrew "Sandy" Irvine (1902-1924) was a member of the 1924 expedition despite being only 21 years old. On June 8, 1924, Irvine and Mallory were last seen going for the summit of Everest. Said to be a shy, handsome young man, Irvine had rowed for Oxford University prior to going to the Himalaya.
