Named for: Dimsdale, Henry George (Henry Dimsdale was an construction engineer with the Edmonton, Dunvegan, and British Columbia Railway.)

The mountain honours H. G. Dimsdale who accompanied Mr. Prentiss N. Gray. They were looking for a route from Edmonton to Prince Rupert. The pass they found is called Gray Pass.
