Although just visible from the Chateau Lake Louise, Collier Peak is a most impressive little summit from the north near the western end of Wapta Lake. The ascent of Collier Peak in 1893 by Samuel Allen and H.P. Nichols was the first ascent of a mountain in the Lake Louise valley. It was un-named at the time and Allen referred to it as Mount Nichols.
