The natives referred to the mountain as Yahareskin, the Stoney word for the "Mountain with the Cap On." In 1927, Colesium Mountain became the site of the first fire lookout building in Alberta. The stone foundation is all that remains of the structure. The lookout was transferred to Shunda Mountain in 1955. (Anne Belliveau)
