KIMPTON PASS

Kimpton Creek and Kimpton Pass honour Rufus Kimpton, an early settler in the Radium Hot Springs area. Rufus gained notoriety when, after the CPR had decided to move its divisional headquarters from Donald to Revelstoke (including the Anglican church), he led an effort which successfully resulted in the church being disassembled, stolen, and reassembled at Windermere. The church bell is said to have ended up in the church at Golden.
